Background
While teaching piano at the University of Southern California, I and others on faculty and staff at the Thornton School of Music (also known as "The Julliard of the West"), developed a piano course designed to teach non-music majors how to play the piano in just one semester's time. Now, I have modified that course designed for group lessons into one designed for one-on-one private lessons. With private lessons, even faster progress is possible because the student has 100% of the teacher's attention and help throughout the entire lesson.
My Approach
With this approach, you will learn the mechanics of how music is put together through the study of music theory which includes the entire scale system, hundreds of chords that are derived from the scale system, including how to read chord symbols and improvise your own left hand accompaniments, an easy way to learn to read and write musical notes, technique-building exercises that will enable you to play at advanced levels in the future, the rules of rhythm, and much more!
I Offer All Types of Piano Lessons
I offer private lessons to people of all age groups from early childhood through mature adults. Popular modern music is taught as well as advanced studies in classical (or "concert") music! Lessons are offered in half hour, forty five minute, or one hour time slots weekly.
I Can Help with Piano Rentals and Purchases
If you currently do not own a keyboard instrument such as an acoustic piano or electronic keyboard, I am also available to help you with the rental or purchase of one, by offering expert advice to help you with your decision. I can also assist you with the tuning of your piano if you already own one and it has been a while since you've had it tuned!
